The Hi-Gloss Desk — A Modern Transformation

The first picture I received looked like a simple desk.

Then it arrived.

The first thing I noticed was the finish — this desk had one of the most intense high-gloss surfaces I had ever seen. The shine was impressive, but underneath it was a piece that was ready for a fresh start.

At first, I thought I could simply prepare the existing finish and refinish from there. But after seeing the condition of the piece, I decided to take the restoration further. The desk was completely stripped and sanded, creating a clean foundation for a brand-new transformation.

The client chose a beautiful deep navy-blue finish paired with modern silver hardware, giving the desk a completely refreshed personality.

One of the most fun details was the drawer liner. The client wanted something special for the main drawer — something blue, navy, and floral. After selecting several options, she chose the perfect design to add a personal touch to the finished piece.

The restoration included repairing old hardware holes and surface imperfections, priming, painting, protective finishing, and carefully cleaning and conditioning the inside of every drawer.

The result was a desk that felt completely renewed — stylish, functional, and ready for many more years of work.

Sometimes furniture doesn't need to be replaced.
