The Special Table — From Magnificent to Majestic

This table was magnificent.

Was.

That's where I came in.

When I first saw this piece, I knew it had something special underneath the years of wear. My biggest challenge was finding the right finish to bring out its original beauty again. Matching stain can be intimidating, but after testing and searching, I found the perfect match:

Special Walnut.

And it truly lived up to its name.

This restoration was also a milestone for me as I continued developing my craft. It was my first time using a carbide scraper during the stripping process, and I quickly learned what a valuable tool it could be. Combined with the right techniques and the perfect stain color, the restoration came together faster and more smoothly than I expected.

After carefully removing the old finish, preparing the wood, and applying the new stain and protective finish, the character of this piece came rushing back.

What was once magnificent became something even better.

Majestic.

And maybe... just a little bit special.
